The hotel is super close to Union Square and in a central area that felt safe. The rooms were clean and a decent size. My only issue was the closet and bathroom had a mildew/cat pee scent to them. I don’t know if this was just a single room issue or if others felt that way as well. The staff was friendly and professional.

Room was nice and modern. Valet parking lost our car twice and had to wait an hour outside int he cold. Breakfast after the $72 credit was so expensive it was $20 over each morning. There is only Flatbread and appetizers in the Red Room. The are is shady.

Overall a fine stay
We have stayed at The Clift several times but this last time it felt a bit worn. I saw new color way in photos so thought it had a refresh but it still seemed a bit tired. I know it’s an old building so I give some slack but it may be time for some remodeling. Staff was friendly and rooms were pretty clean. I always love the location, with SF going through a rough patch there is sadly a lot closed now around the property. But this will change in time. The proximity to sight seeing is good. Had a nice cocktail in the Redwood Room. Overall our stay was fine, but missing a bit of the quality I remember.
