This is a fabulous hotel with a great outdoor pool and lots of cool bar/dining options. We especially enjoyed our dining experience at Shirley Brasserie (great service and food). Our room was spacious and clean; we appreciated the double shower. Opportunity: We arrived at 10am (check in is at 3pm) and inquired about an early check in. We were told we'd be texted if available and encouraged to check back periodically of we didn't receive a notification. After a few hours w/o a text, my husband inquired and was told our room was cleaned and ready but needed to receive a final sign off, which could be at any time. This news was very hopeful, as we were exhausted from our early flight. But, we didn't hear back again for more than an hour, so I inquired and was told the exact same thing from a different representative. We finally checked in at 3pm. We understand sometimes early check in is not available. We just felt like we were being given false hope and that, as the verbiage was exactly the same for both encounters with different people, management provided the specific language to their representatives to wave off guests. We would have preferred to be told "not possible today" in the first place. Lastly, there was confusion re: purchased upgrades and whether they applied for each day of stay or were one-time uses. We were told one thing at check in, and the opposite at check out. Management needs to do a better job informing their teams to set them up for success.

The hotel is generally very lovely. I hated the neighborhood but that’s not the hotels fault. The room was clean and the pool was gorgeous. Check in was delayed by almost an hour with very little apology or explanation. Concierge was terrific. I understand that they want to keep sort of an old Hollywood feel, but a coffeemaker in the room would have been nice. I get it that they also probably would rather you buy coffee from the very pricey restaurant, but at the very least, have some glasses in the room for water.

The staff were exceptional. Happy and accommodating. While the Roosevelt is a historical building, it needs and deserves a bit of a facelift. But it doesn’t detract from the experience. I would return for the staff alone.

Amazing every time. I love this place dearly. The staff is so sweet and helpful. The food is great. The pool is my favorite. And you can’t beat the location.
