Checked in, had an issue with my room and requested to be moved to a new one. The lady at the front desk was super helpful in making my situation right and very understanding about the issue with the ocean view room. Great service and amazing views of the ocean and coastline

Very old and in need of a remodel. Doors barely close. You can hear everything and everyone around you. Shower temperature would change if anyone in the building flushes. Great location, but otherwise not a good experience.

We were in town for a weddings. I got a room with an ocean view. It was beautiful. We could hear sea lions, and see dolphins jumping. The wedding was on the rooftop, so it was very convenient.

I really love this hotel as it overlooks the water and gives you roll out of bed access to the cove you can open the door and hear the sea lions from your balcony. It’s easy for an Uber to pick you up from and take you down to the shores. This is my go to Spot in La Jolla.

We had a "terrace" ocean view room. There are multiple different areas of this hotel and they are all quite different. It's like the hotel has expanded over the years by buying up adjacent properties. The Pines building is newest and recently remodeled. The Shores building is right next to it and looks a little more dated from the outside. Both of those buildings have ocean views that are unobstructed, right across the street from the park. The terrace area is up higher on the hill and a collection of what seem like suites, with most having an ocean view. While they do have a great ocean view there is quite a bit of the hotel and like roofs in the foreground, so it's not like just the ocean expanse. The terrace rooms are much more dated. Everything was clean and functional but felt like a motel room from the 70s. The beds/mattresses were new and nice. The tradeoff is that you do get a broad ocean view and a gigantic patio and like twice the amount of room (living room and bedroom) for the same price that other hotels in the area are offering just a small queen room with maybe an ocean view. The other good thing about the terrace area is that it's actually right off Prospect st, the parking is accessible from prospect so it's actually a much shorter walk to shops/food/etc from these rooms. A slightly longer walk down to the park/beach.

This property has 2 type of building, an order and a newer one - We have been to the new one which was excellent - this time our reservation routed us to the order buildings, our room was up above the property, we had to go through 3 flight of stairs with no elevator, room was super outdated, carpets were dirty and old, room was humid and moist, bathrooms super old and dated, no central air conditioning. Spacious but very outdated. no phone in the room, for every communication you had to walk to the other side of the hotel.

This property was pictured a new and pristine. It was old and smelly. The parking was in a narrow dirt parking lot with an uneven surface. This hotel had people in their garage area passed out in vehicles. We ended up going next door to get a room. They didn’t offer to refund or apologize.

Should've stayed at La Quinta
The room was dark and moldy and it looked nothing like the photos. I would be very careful to book a room in the new wing, which I think is much nicer and featured in the lead photos.

This hotel is very much a bait and switch. They show off their brand new rooms but 98% of the rooms are old, not well taken care of and feel like a road side motel.

I would attached video and photos but Expedia won’t let me. To sum it up, Traditional Room, Ocean View wherein I faced multiple issues including water temperature fluctuations causing burns, a non-flushing toilet, a patio door that wouldn't open, no body wash filled for 2 days, a hotel room door that wouldn't close properly without slamming, a missing smoke detector, and a rickety elevator. The photos you see ARE NOT La Jolla cove suites but the building that had been renovated called THE PINES. I complained to management about the issues and we were switch to room we should have been in the whole time. THAT room (at the pines) was amazing and would stay there if I ever go back to that location. But be warned, I felt catfished with photos from La Jolla cove suites.
