Not worth the price - not clean or hygienic
The staff were lovely but that is the only nice thing I can say about the hotel. For the amount we paid (£118 per night for 3 nights) I expected the room to be of a higher standard. We had the biggest issue with the cleanliness, the windows were covered in dust, mouldy paint was peeling off in the bathroom with more mould on the ceiling. We also had issues with the heating not working and had to move rooms at 1:30am as the heating control was not working and the radiator control was broken and making concerning noises. In our first room we also struggled to shower as it was flooding and overflowing after a few minutes. We would barely pay £118 for the entire stay let alone per night. It’s a shame because all the staff were so lovely but we weren’t comfortable for the entire stay and the cleanliness was poor at best.

Within walking distance of central Oxford, this hotel is in a quiet area of the city and is reasonably priced given its location. While the room I had was a good size with a large bathroom, other rooms are smaller but have better views. I found the bed to be comfortable, but it may be too hard for some. The timed lights in the hallways and black-out curtains made for a lovely dark room at night. There was a wide choice of English and Continental breakfasts. The reception, cleaning, breakfast and bar staff were all very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there again, and recommend it to others.

Our room smelt of damp and the carpet was soaking wet. The hotel did change our room but it was on the top floor with no lift. The air con in the room didn’t work very well the room was extremely hot. They gave us a free drinks voucher for 1 drink each lol as a sorry. For £180.00 a night we expected more

The property needs a general overhaul. Sad. Depressive. Dungeon vibe. Most Windows didn’t even open. Reception staff need retraining on customer service. It was just a sad overall experience in one of the most beautiful cities in the UK. Oxford deserves better… please please do it the justice it deserves…

Disappointing experience
We have arrived on Friday 2nd February. On the arrival the receptionist started to argue with us that we did not booked the privilege room and was asking for a payment. This continued until we produced the booking receipt. Surely, the hotel should have had their booking record? The corridor was clattered with the dirty glasses, plates, etc. The place looked shabby. Next morning, while having the shower, hot water was cut off. My husband went to reception but the reply was that there is no maintenance person at that time of the day- well after 8am. I needed to wash off the soap and shampoo with the icy cold water. The charge for the privilege room is £262 and it is not worth it. Such hotel cannot have 4 star rating.
