I had called ahead to the hotel to confirm we had an earlier check in due to ferry schedules (we live on the gulf islands) They made a note, said no problem, more than likely it would work out. We were not advised that there would be an additional 75$ charge for this. I understand the idea, capitalizing on a concert weekend, but our intention as seniors was to do something else, connect our ferry departure, re connect with family at Moxies, (great staff there! good portions and food) and get to the airport on time. It would have been nice to know about the added cost, as the hotel room costs were grossly inflated due to a concert that we were not even attending.

If only the room was as nice as the lobby.
We stayed at the Sandman Vancouver Airport for the Taylor Swift concert on the 8th. We were there 3 nights. We were totally taken advantage of as far as pricing goes - we paid a little over $500 a night for a mediocre, grimy room. The lobby is in nice condition but the room was t. The pillow cases were dingy and had yellowed. The carpet was grimy and didn’t feel clean to walk on barefoot. The baseboards and corners of the rooms were dirty and the furnishings were scratched and dated. The photos on the website make the rooms appear decent but they are definitely not. I appreciated the gift basket they left in the room but considering they charged an outrageous amount for the stay, the basket was almost like a laugh in our faces because we felt taken advantage of. The front desk staff was nice enough but nothing out of the ordinary. I wouldn’t recommend the hotel.

Wonderful stay from start to finish!
We had a great experience with our one night in town for the Eras tour. First we arrived an hour before check in and they got us into a room. We enjoyed that they were playing Taylor Swift in the lobby! When we got to the room, we found a nice note and gift basket welcoming us- very unexpected and appreciated. They informed us that the hotel shuttle could take us to the train station at the airport for free so we could catch the train downtown. We ordered dinner from Moxie's and took it to the room to eat. Everything was delicious!!! There's a fridge in room, so we could save our leftovers. The next morning we enjoyed the pool which was wonderful and picked up some coffee in the lobby. After check out we had brunch at Moxie's, and again enjoyed everything we got. Thanks for a perfect stay!

I enjoyed the convenience of airport taxi, and was the primary reason for choosing this particular hotel along with reviews I've read online. During my stay on 11/25 the hottub was closed for maintenance. Also it took a very long time to get hot water in the tub and the faucet leaked excessively when the shower was engaged.

There are 2 Sandman Hotels in Richmond. Confusing as to which one we were staying at. Shuttle bus driver (at airport pickup) must have had a bad day. Not very friendly. Room was supposed to be 1 queen. We got 2 doubles. (It was a late check-in, and we had been travellly over 24 hours, so didn't bother trying to correct this. Restaurant at hotel does not open until 8 AM. Too late for us. Shuttle bus back to the airport was different driver. Much friendlier and amaible.
