Prime location
I had a fantastic experience at the Alan Hotel. Although my stay was brief, I truly appreciated the friendly and efficient staff, from the valet to the front desk, who made the check-in and check-out process seamless. While I had read some concerns about the area, the hotel’s convenient location and easy access to nightlife made it worthwhile. The complimentary voucher was a nice touch, and I’m already looking forward to returning for a longer stay.

This property was lovely! The staff was very kind and accommodating. I really liked the room. It was decorated well and felt comfy and chic. The one subpar thing we experienced while here, was we sat down at the cafe for dinner at 4pm. The dinner menu looked delicious! Dinner begins at 4pm and we ordered right away, after about 30 minutes the server checked in again. We waited for over 50 minutes and then checked in again with our server, who checked with the kitchen and let us know that our order was never placed!!! It was extremely disappointing because it seems like the server never gave them our order. We left because we had a concert to go. So unfortunately we did not get to have dinner. Aside from that, the staff was very kind, the room was nice, and the hotel it self was great!

Really pretty hotel! Easily located to downtown Gaslamp, stayed here to attend a concert at Petco park. We walked from the hotel. Staff was great. We booked the same day of our stay, really easy! Would stay here again.

It was awesome, a great stay. The location is top notch. Beware of parking, the cheapest I’ve found is 707 broadway for around 15 dollars nightly, which is just a 5 min walk away.

I stay here for a weekend trip and it was truly amazing. The property is beautiful, staff was incredible, the location was perfect, close enough to the night life but far enough where you aren’t in the middle of it. Will definitely be staying here again.

Really great experience, truly did not want to leave but my fiance and I will definitely be back! Room keeping was very respectful of our belongings in the room and kept the room clean in a timely manner.

This hotel was wonderful, great location as many of the cities best night life attractions were within walking distance, staff was friendly, hotel was clean, only complaint which is by no means the hotel’s fault is that the surrounding area was pretty filthy and generally felt unsafe, there’s this overwhelming smell of urine all along the streets which is probably a common thing in downtown San Diego as well as homelessness and clear drug use with the occasional zombie or person just laid out on the sidewalk. I had gotten screamed at by a guy on his bike who had tried to cross the street I was crossing despite me having the right of way while he attempted to run a red as well as seeing 2 different fights break out in front of nearby bars/restaurants. Thankfully police presence was strong so I never felt completely unsafe just the occasional nerves but this in no way reflects the hotel itself from being a pleasant place to stay. I would absolutely stay there again because it is centrally located with great staff and comfortable and affordable hospitality. Just be prepared to deal with some rowdy street-life.

Overall experience was great. We did have 3 issues with our room, the fridge was broken (they ended up bringing a new one into the room but where we walk and not just replacing the broken one) the ac also didn’t fully work we woke up multiple times very hot. Third was the walls are so thin we could hear everything and anything… The staff was extremely nice and so welcoming. They offered us wine vouchers 2 each which was nice and they offer a credit for the fees so you basically get free money to spend which was also nice! Gaslamp area had definitely gone down hill and the homeless is intense. We were right next door to a trolley stop which made getting around very easy. Overall experience wasn’t too bad apart from the negatives!
