Lovely hotel in central Sheffield, near shopping and restaurants, good quality rooms and bar. Only downside is parking is a good 10min walk away and not ideal.

First impressions weren't great - we were checked-in to a room which hadn't been prepared. However, reception staff were apologetic and offered complimentary drinks whilst an alternative room was prepared. The room was clean but some public areas were a bit tired. Overall, an OK stay.

Not the best for wheelchair/scooter users
Lovely heritage building with a great story to tell, however, as a mobility scooter user it wasn’t great. Yes there’s an accessibility platform lift to use to avoid the steps at the side entrance and I just managed to get my scooter in it, but it’s cumbersome and in the bar area so I was stared at whilst I used it. Thankfully my husband checked out the breakfast room and I couldn’t have got my scooter in there so unless you have a streamlined wheelchair, that could be an issue. The accessible room we had was at the far end of a long corridor access. Moving through the two doors along the way would have been difficult if I’d been alone and the last door was a 7 point manoeuvre for me to get through. The room itself was fine. Very clean. Small double bed and generally small space overall in the bedroom area but a large accessible wetroom which was great. Customer service was great. All staff were friendly and appeared really helpful and motivated. I’d probably not return here as the in/out experience was frankly humiliating in such a public location and whilst I appreciate the constraints of a listed building this isn’t the dignified approach to take.

Nice hotel, great location but lots of noise from outside until the early hours. Shower was faulty and unusable as the water was dangerously hot, couldn’t adjust the temperature.
