This property is dated and slightly rundown but staff was very friendly and helpful and room was clean which made up for the age. We have stayed at the royal Lahaina several times so this place felt similar. The location of this property was great near restaurants, shopping, ice cream and coffee shops. Would tell anyone NOT to book this hotel. Upon arrival, no help with baggage or parking procedure. You need a room key to enter parking lot but you are not told this curbside. Our room was in Bay Tower. There was loud music and voices from a neighboring bar until almost 3:00am making it impossible to sleep.

Dear Royal Kona Resort, I am writing to express my extreme disappointment and frustration with my recent stay at your establishment. My wife and I were eagerly looking forward to a luxurious vacation to celebrate her birthday, only to be met with a nightmare of cockroach-infested rooms and misrepresented amenities. The presence of cockroaches throughout the hotel not only ruined our experience but also posed a serious health hazard. The outdated facilities and unattractive views were a far cry from the picturesque scenes portrayed in your marketing materials. Furthermore, the room change we requested was a complete disappointment as we did not receive the full ocean view that we had paid for - only a partial view. This experience was a complete and utter disaster, and despite your offer to refund our stay, it would have left us without accommodation. Given the circumstances and the extreme disappointment we experienced, I am requesting a refund for our stay. I trust that you will take this matter seriously and take immediate action to rectify the situation to ensure that future guests do not have to endure such a substandard experience. I eagerly await your prompt response and resolution to this matter. Thank you.

During our time in Kailua-Kona on the Big Island, we stayed at the Royal Kona Resort. This stay was absolutely exceptional. This resort was in a great location, close to the airport and a walkable distance to downtown. Additionally, they hosted various events, such as luaus and live music. Some things to keep in mind are that the WiFi is unreliable and does not fully work in our room. I had difficulty loading work applications and or sending emails. Keep this in mind if you are a remote traveler! Also, when we traveled there, there was construction going on in one of the towers – not fun! Finally, parking is $25/day and there are hidden resort fees of about $25/day as well that we were charged upon checking out. Aside from some of the hidden fees and lack of reliable WiFi, we absolutely loved our stay at the Royal Kona Resort and would recommend it.

"I enjoyed the area, but the room itself was disappointing and lacked privacy. We had an ocean view room, but it was misleading—you couldn't open the blinds all the way because other guests could look directly into our room. I would not recommend staying in Room 219; it's probably the worst room in this dated hotel. The hotel has no gym, no room service, no microwave, a small pool, no beach access, and very limited activities. Overall, it was not worth the extra cost for the ocean view."

Don't stay
When i made reservation, they didn’t show parking surcharge. If i know i would booked some other place with that money (pay myself instead of paying for rental car). When i try to talk to front desk person about my reservation, she is not ready to offer help. Waste of time to start conversation with them. Location is only good thing about it, all others things are outdated. One of the towels which was placed in our room was dirty. Here to enjoy with family, didn’t want to ruin it.

Decent but construction started early
We were put into the older tower and it was under construction. Construction started early in the morning with jackhammers non stop

The property was beautiful and the view we had of the pool and ocean was wonderful! We really enjoyed the food and Thursday night entertainment. We also were very happy to have water dispensers to fill out water bottles everyday.

The Royal Kona Resort is a bit older but has lots of charm and the staff were very friendly and helpful. They are renovating but it was not too bothersome to those staying at the hotel.

I really liked this hotel. It's a little run down and the rooms look old but in terms of views. It is unmatched. I definitely look forward to coming back again in the future.
