Pleasant enough for the price.
Pleasant enough a little disappointed to find out via email after we had booked that renovation works would be carried out during our stay causing noise between 9am-4pm. Staff were friendly and room was clean. Shame about the noise and run down rooms/lobbys.

Even after telling the check-in clerk that it was our honeymoon, she gave us a room in the older section of the hotel. The room smelled old and moldy. The property itself is rundown. Not worth the cost.

Great location and great service. The property itself is dated, needs repairs, fresh coat of paint. Rooms are clean but minimal (no room service, or any hotel information packets, basic tv channels, bed linens are minimal) Service was great, changed room for a view with no extra charge, people that worked on grounds were very helpful and friendly. They genuinely seemed to enjoy working at hotel and happy to assist. Location is fantastic and walkable to all sorts of shops, restaurants and even the beach. Parking was not included in the hotel price which was disappointing since they charged a extra 375 after 7 days

Had one restaurant and a lot of seating but still had to wait. Good food and service. Parking was a challenge as the resort was full. People coming in to attend the Luau made the parking somewhat challenging. Otherwise, good atmosphere. A lot of touristy things to do in the area in walking distance. The gift shop was nice. Staff was very friendly at the front desk.

The rooms are a bit outdated, but everything appeared clean and spotless. I enjoyed the "old Hawaii" atmosphere of the common areas, such as the open-air lobby and restaurant. Restaurant staff were unfriendly and rude.

We loved our stay at Royal Kona Resort. It exceeded our expectation. We loved the ocean view from our room. The lagoon was our favorite spot to relax, swim and snorkel. Even though the rooms were a bit dated, but they were very clean and spacious. Staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant offered amazing ocean view. We really enjoyed our breakfast and dinner there. Will come to stay again for sure.

Beautiful hotel with great view. Rooms are clean and spacious. Parking can be a bit of nightmare. We are glad we visited during shoulder season and able to find street parking most nights or else it could have easily been another $25 a night just for parking.

Royal Kona Resort is a breath taking experienc. From the view when you first walk to check it you’re hit with the Aloha hospitality. Only complaint I had was our balcony had a turfed carpet and unfortunately it smelled like pee really bad.

Black rock ocean sanctuary
Salt and sun battered, this Kona icon made for a fantastic staycation with a corner oceanfront lanai on the black rocks with a sunset view. The doors stayed open to sleep like the dead to the amplified sounds of the ocean. The staff all made for fun interactions and everything I consumed tasted great. When in Kona, you can’t beat the atmosphere of the entire resort grounds. I will definitely be back.
